by
The Metrologist.
on Mon 02 Jun 2008 10:05 AM BST
When it comes to measuring surfaces for roughness or contour profile the Kosaka Surfcorder SE-1200 instruments has no equal. Consisting of a combined amplifier printer with a 25mm drive unit and universal pick-up this small compact instrument can carry out many measurements which larger competitive models are needed, such as curved surfaces, short lands, profiles and very small bores. Easily programmed via its keypad, selections of traverse distance, cut offs, curved, flat surface, vertical and horizontal magnifications and universal Ra and waveform parameters are quickly set, results witrh profile graphs being rapidly printed out. The SE-1200 is shown below with it pick-up mouinted in a right angle format.

Surfcorder ET-3000, an automated and enclosed nanometer resolution profiler for 2D surface, step and contour measurement.
Surfcorder microfigure ET-4000 has a resolution of 0.1 nanometer for 3D surface analysis. Extremely low measuring force stylus pick-ups are standard for very soft material measurement.
Surfcorder DSF1000 and DSF 500 surface finish and contour measuring instruments, range up to 12mm with nanometer resolution. Single scan function measures surface finish and contour in one measurement pass.

Formcorder EF-150, an advanced contour analyser with options of magnifications from x1 up to x 2000.

Spline measurement with high gauge R&R
by
The Metrologist.
on Mon 25 Jul 2005 01:05 PM BST
A long standing problem in the auto industry was solved by purchasing Comtorgage spline gauges. Gauge R&R standards are very high for this product andconventional hand gauges continually failed to meet them. We are please to report our CG spline gauges, after extensive tests, had a gauge R&R better than 8% meeting the customers specifications in full.

The Kosaka ET-4000 3D nanometer surface analyser seems to have become the standard in the Pacific Rim high tech industries. Applications include research into FPD's, Glass, Thin film, Wafers, Micro Steps, LCD's and many more. Household names such as Sony, Fujistu, Hitachi, Sharp, Panasonic, Casio to name just a few all rely on Kosaka, probably the worlds leading surface finish instrument manufacturer to measure their highly specialised products for surface area profiles..
To find out how we can assist you keep up with the competition in nano surface measurement contact us for a leaflet and user list to see if your application has already been measured by Kosaka.

Cam face profile and roughness measurement
by
The Metrologist.
on Mon 25 Jul 2005 12:46 PM BST
Our customer required to measure, in the workshop enviroment, cam face straightness and surface finish. . A Kosaka SE-1200 instrument solved his problem because of its high accuracy inbuilt datum used for skidless measurement. The SE1200 unit was also operated with the pick-up at right angles to the driver allowing the surface stylus arm to enter between the cams shoulders. Straightness measurement over the full cam face was achieved by pre-programming the instrument, graph records and data being printed out.

All Kosaka Surfcorder measure straightness and waveform, large drivers measure up to 200mm traverse with datum accuracies of fractions of microns.

Electronic probes and transucer repair service.
by
The Metrologist.
on Thu 14 Jul 2005 02:53 PM BST
Here's a fact not so well known in metrology of particular interest to quality and support engineers involved in volume production using gauging fixtures.
We offer a worldwide service to repair regular types of electronic transducers and probes. When the probes on your gauging fixtures fail, d'ont just replace, save money by allowing us to repair and re-furbish them. We fit replacement bearings, tips, lead connections etc and test them out before returning to our customers.
An estimate is always given prior to work being commenced but fully refurbushed probes cost approx. half as much as buying new.

Photographs show Kosaka PUC surface finish pick-up with interchangeable styli, a electronic probes and Metrol CNC sensor head.

A Roundness machine for long shafts.
by
The Metrologist.
on Sun 03 Jul 2005 03:46 PM BST
Kosaka Roncorder Instruments includes the EC-3600 series designed to measure long shafts. The unit has 1400mm vertical traverse and a table loading capacity of 250kg. Component diameters up to 650mm can be accomodated on the rotary air bearing table.
High accuracies of table rotation and straightness in the vertical column ensure highly efficient measurements of pin, jornal and large crankshafts for roundness, straightness and cylindricity.
