All Kosaka Surfcorders have been designed to measure difficult applications such as very small grooves and similar features.

Shown here is a piston groove not only being measured for Ra roughness values but also straightness, squareness and parallelism. The latter conditions being achieved by turning the pick-up upside down after the initial traverse and re-measuring on the upper groove face., Kosaka software then calculates and prints the two traces at the same time on the graph paper clearly showing any errors in the groove shape.
